Visitor FAQ

Is this a ticketed event?

No! This is, and always will be, a free event!

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes! We will never run an event in a venue which isn’t. Meeting peoples physical accessibility needs is always a priority when finding suitable venues for events.

What other accessibility information do I need to know?

There is music on at the market, we try to keep it low, but points near the speakers may be louder. The beginning of the events always tend to be very busy, so please take this in to account if you have sensory needs this may affect. We see a calmer market experience in the last hour or two.

Can I bring my dog?

At the moment, yes! Both venues are dog friendly!

Can I bring my kids?

The event is not age limited. However, there are sellers with more sensitive themes in their products so it is up to parents whether they bring, or allow, under 18 year olds to attend our bazaar. An extensive vendor list is available on our instagram profiles for both market locations in the lead up to the events so you can see what will be available.

Who do I talk to if I have a problem?

Find the Kintsugilt stall with gold bone jewellery and talk to Jay! Or find a staff member at the venue and they will hopefully be able to point you in the right direction.

Trader FAQ

How do I apply?

Fill out the application form for the bazaar you want to be a part of HERE!

How much does it cost to sell with you?

The tables vary from £35-£120 depending on the space you need, these are specified in the form when you apply. Trestle tables are provided, unless specified in the application.

Why didn’t I get accepted?

The Alternative Bazaar was created to give a platform for alternative sellers to vend at larger scale markets in the north west of England, where there previously were no opportunities to do so. The markets are specifically curated to showcase weird, alternative, and odd artworks and products which are often not well received at regular markets. If this does not apply to your business, you will not be accepted.

If you do feel your work fits in with our vibe but still dont get in, dont take it personally! We get a lot of applications for our markets and only have limited spaces. The events are curated so that there is a wide variety of work, without overlaps in products being sold. We have a specific percentage of tables allocated within each category of work (eg. jewellery, prints, taxidermy etc.) so that they are not over-subscribed and there isn’t any direct competition between sellers. If you fit within the alternative umbrella and don’t get accepted, it may simply be that the category your work falls in to was very heavily sought after this time round.

There are some hard “no”s which will cause your application to be denied:

  • We do not allow mass produced, non-handmade, drop-shipped items to be sold, so if your business sells this type of product, you will not be accepted.

  • The events are not 18+ so, unfortunately, any hardcore kink/toys or prints/artwork with more sexual depictions cannot be accepted.

  • We cannot have stalls selling alcohol due to agreements with both of the venues used. The Manchester venue also does not allow food to be sold by vendors.
